AI prophets talking about how new jobs will be created are mostly people who have never had to work for a living, and only understand business from the CEO or wealth/ earnings point of view. Automation took tens of thousands of jobs from middle-aged career workers, and replaced them with a few thousand tech jobs for young people. I witnessed that, and that was one sector (manufacturing). AI is already doing that across ALL sectors. This isn't "anxiety", it is real and now. You are not going to retrain any welder or warehouse worker between 45-65 as a software or prompt engineer, then find a company to hire them for a few years before they retire - they will simply loose their jobs, medical insurance, and ability to retire or retrain. Period. There may be more "earning potential" for some in the new "decentralized labor force", but these displaced workers likely won't have the skills or ability to access to those opportunities that late in life... "not everybody will get there", as Naval said... Yes, like the majority of people.
