I like the work that you do in this video when it comes to image scraping. Doing it without consent is, if not illegal, highly unethical, especially when image sharing websites like DeviantArt do it retroactively. I'm more worried for the (very few) cases, where platforms are poisoned which clearly state beforehand that uploaded images will be used to train generative AI models. For the purpose of image hosting, I can imagine that it can be a good way to subsidize server cost, which would lower the price of premium accounts and the density of ads. As for the skill it takes to use AI-Image Generation, it's not nonexistent, but also not particularly high. Personally I never took the time and effort to develop a skill at drawing, but am reasonably good at pointing out what makes something work or not work, more the mindset of a critic or curator. For my own artistic expression, especially when it comes to visualization of DnD Characters and such, AI-Generation can be a good tool. It's time consuming to sieve through the bad results, narrow down the prompt, maybe even manually do some editing to receive a final result. I see it more akin to collage art, or photography. In both of those artforms you don't create the image completely yourself. With collages you use the work of others to piece together what you envision. With photography, you are tinkering with parameters like exposure, focus, different lenses to capture the motive you want in the way you want. That's what's differentiating AI-Images between AI-Slob and AI-Art. You can actually be artistically expressive with it.
