The question I never hear being answered is, if companies use AI to replace their employees, and a significant portion of the population are out of work, isn’t this going to crater the economy? If people aren’t getting paid, they ain’t spending money on stuff….the economic engine collapses.
If GM, along with countless companies, automates its factories, and the robots can produce more cars than they ever could with their human labor, GREAT, good for them! But who’s going to be able to buy their cars?? Companies get their profits from the sale of their goods or services. If the pandemic shutdown taught us anything it’s that consumers drive the bus, they are the true job creators.
