Will AI make HS2 cheaper and require less time to build? A 'yes' answer to that makes the future of AI being more usefully capable hugely credible, I'd say.
And if 'yes', there's less pressure to ask 'do we need it?' if it's far cheaper. Strength added to the original case.
Anyway, other European countries have already managed to build infrastructure far more cheaply and quicker than the UK: look up "ukfoundations".
