Im not an artist, but here's my current take on AI art as soemone who's looking into getting in the tech sector and trying out art for fun: Ps: Might be a bit biased so, sorry!! Tl;dr here: AI art is a tool I would use as a reference/visualisation of ideas. Anyone using AI art for personal use is okay, but no one should use it for commercial. AI industry's growth should be encouraged while discussing the issues/upcoming issues simultaneously. I view AI art as a tool, one not to be used for any commercial means, but as a stopgap tool. A scenario where I would use AI art is when I have an idea I can't visualise, but can't put it into words. Sometimes AI is slightly better at doing so compared to a google search. From then, I would use that AI generated image as a reference/stimulus to sketch and draw a different artwork by myself. Now my take on AI art in general: If someone just uses AI art for something personal, i.e profile pictures and so, I don't think it's something to hate on, some people aren't good at drawing/can't spend time learning it. However it is a big NO when they claim it as their own work. Another BIG NO is when these individuals or even companies use them commercially. It lacks the passion of an actual artist drawing it and the imagination of humans. Finally my view on AI as a whole: Since I'm aspiring to work in the IT industry, AI is really a helpful tool when used properly. The fear of AI replacing jobs IS a real issue that needs to be addressed for when the time comes, but there WILL still be jobs, someone needs to maintain and use said AI after all. However I do see the negative connotation on AI right now is a bit unjust. There are of course bad actors who uses AI in a bad/illegal way, but AI itself is just a tool, something like a screwdriver. It's intended to help improve the quality of life after all. Of course it is still in quite the early stages, though I would say AI is more on its early teens now in terms of growth stage. There IS a lot of problems that needs serious discussion and thought over, but the AI industry shouldn't be stopped rather we should encourage the growth while simultaneously discuss its issues/upcoming ones.
