I feel like a dunce in a calculus class, but regarding AI taking over the job market, there have very much been predictions of doom when a new technology is deployed in the workplace and elsewhere. It's also very true that new technologies -- in particular information technologies -- spawn many new jobs oriented around or connected to the new technology. Yet the corollary is that many other jobs are eliminated, including many specialists and highly-skilled workers whose abilities suddenly have little value. These workers usually end up taking lower-paying jobs, particularly people caught between being "over the hill", and not being old enough to retire. And AI poses so many other existential threats, particularly in the age of amoral billionaires, who control AI corporations. Traditional media has been used to start wars, but no one has ever been shot by a newspaper, and you're not under surveillance by Michael Scott. (I want off this timeline plz, can you do a show explaining how to do that.)
