first of all, art is a skill, whatever form it takes, and all skills require effort. the fundamental problem with AI art is that in its current form, its more of a niche random image generator than an actual tool of art. i think AI could be incredible in refining existing art skill as a tool for artists, but sadly such a tool doesn't really exist yet, and will likely only be able to take form as an indie project. finally, radicals are kind of an inevitability with the modern culture being the way it is right now when it comes to topics like these. a lot of people make the mistake of assuming that AI is a new technology that is some important step forward, without ever taking a moment to do their research. AI isnt new, most of what we're calling AI isnt actually AI at all, and AI is generally more useful in aiding complex tasks, rather than replacing them entirely. the important part was that we realized it could help make massive advancements in the function and development of things like manufacturing, which it now does quite well when it isn't being kneecapped by corporatism. edit: to elaborate more on the skill takes effort thing. i find it pointless to argue with anyone who lacks the basic self awareness and empathy it takes to understand the practice and effort that goes into learning something like art. i say this as someone who lacks skill in drawn arts, but has exemplary skill in the creative written arts (though my grammar seems to be eternally broken). i recognize i have a talent as a self taught writer, but it took tens of thousands of hours of effort to get to where i am, even if i didn't realize what i was doing at the time, and that isn't taking into consideration indirect efforts like absorbing an analyzing media such as shows, comics, books, and more. my point here is that you physically cant achieve something without trying, and trying is fundamentally about effort. anyone who lacks even this basic understanding of cause and effect is pointless to argue with, and i can only encourage anyone experiencing this form of unproductive criticism to ignore it and try to move on.
