I 'm impartial to either side, but I don't really understand some of the main arguments against AI art. They seem more emotionally charged than anything. 1. "Plagiarism". Not a fundamental feature of AI art. It's trivial to build an ethically sourced training set. 2. "It doesn't take effort". Neither does a slew of contemporary art forms that we seem to value. I don't find effort to be an indicator of value in art. 3. "It's the work of a machine, you only press a button". I could apply the same argument to photography, which has been considered "real art" for a century now. Framing a scene and taking a photo is comparatively easy to traditional art. 4. "There is no soul". This argument borders on being a theological one. I hold no regard for the "soul" of art; the meaning of art is dependent on it's observer, and they can gleam any amount significance from the circumstances of the art's inception. If art's purpose is to be provocative and elicit a reaction, as many contemporary artists would believe, the deluge of negative sentiment toward AI art would make it incredibly meaningful as a collective.
