The concern about data is legit but I think the framing misses something. Most people who turn to AI for mental health support aren't replacing therapy, they're filling the gap between sessions or when they can't afford sessions at all. The question isn't AI vs human therapist, it's AI support vs nothing at all. That's a very different equation.
