I'm going to be very clear about why I don't like the idea of legal action taken in regards to Miyazaki's art style. It's a very simple objection. I do not believe that the courts will place a sufficiently intricate ruling that can stop these A.I. services from utilizing and generating images in that style without possibly inadvertently creating a ruling that could actually threaten actual artists who may seek to also use similar art styles. What I mean by this, is that if the ruling is to be broad enough to avoid all possible sampling of copyrighted material, it may also be broad enough to prevent reference use or suspected referencing by artists. It could possibly open up individuals to legal arguments from major studios. I would rather not have an increased risk of being given a cease and desist because I drew in a style too similar to a Disney film, or used Disney images as some references while making an art piece. So, the rulings and legal arguments would have to be done in a manner that will make certain they apply to Machine Learning/A.I. and ML/A.I. only.
