To say that AI would halt advancement would be to say that AI is the pentacle of want and desire. After AI we would not want anything else? In that free time from everyday events we will not dream and desire? If anything, progress would continue for the most curious of all races and not because of necessity but because of desire. Not to mention the things our creations would make. Not to discuss religion, but what if we were God's AI, would our progress not be his own by relation?
