This is all absurd, we're making up fundamentally unknowable concepts and trying to apply them to machines, if you take a deterministic view of reality whos to say anyone is conscious? If free will does exist, whos to say it cant be "stimulated" after all, our brains are physical objects and thus a completely accurate replica in digital space could theoretically work and provide us a duplicate "person", maybe we shouldn't look at AI and instead replicate models we already know to work. Maybe the answer lies in quantum mechanics and thus is impossible to replicate in regular computers? Maybe the technology required to produce consciousness cannot be real, as in it is something we defined that doesnt make any objective sense, afterall we are just monkeys, whos to say we could decipher any real objective truth? Im leaning towards the possibility that nothing is actually "conscious", none of it makes sense, all of it is absurd, the very idea of it is made up.
