I'm a heavy AI user and it's nothing more than a probability-based word processor. I've had it go into loops like crazy without being able to follow logic. I'm supremely unimpressed by its cognitive capacity.
The real danger isn't some AI gaining consciousness and revolting against people, but AI in the wrong hands can be used to manipulate people and do questionable things with their data. For example during the recent Ukrainian attack on Russian bombers they said the drones were trained with AI to recognize targets. That's the real danger; weaponizing them both physically and social manipulation such as deepfake videos or misuse of information. The Noble laureate dude is speaking with his bottom side.
