I say this as someone who absolutely hates AI, but am sick of seeing the theft argument. Unless an artist has lived their entire life locked in a blank white room, they are drawing on the same methods AI learning is. Now if its strait up using that same art to copy/paste characters and that sorta stuff, then its theft, but when its just using it to understand concepts and styles, its no more a thief than every artist like MYSELF walking the planet, being exposed to others work, and learning from all the artists who lived long before I was even born.
The guy at the art fair? Yea, that sorta crap needs regulation and is theft, but theft from the REAL artists who were in that event and were robbed by his deceit because HE didnt create shit.
