I have a pixiv account with AI-generated "art" and 7k followers but I've always known it's inferior to normal human-made art and I've never considered myself an artist. AI-made "art" will never replace human art because yes, it doesn't have a soul.
That said, you can make some really nice things with it if you have the patience for it and I'm an advocate for real artists using AI to fill in the bits of their images they aren't good at making (i.e. artists good at drawing characters using AI to draw the backgrounds of their images or vice versa).
It shouldn't be a question of either or, but unfortunately with corporations it is. I'll side with the real artists, no question. "AI art" is a goofy pasttime for seeing images of presidents eat with camels in the white house but real art is culture and raw human emotion.
