The generative ai models are being trained and can only function on the expense of other people’s work (journalists, writers, painters, artists etc). Which would be (kind of) ok, if the companies had gotten these people consent, which isn’t the case. They scrap the internet for artwork and even pirated written pieces. To put it simply, it’s like they’re robing a baker’s bread and claiming they’re going to replace the baker’s job. Which is 1. A shitty practice and 2. Illogical, because they still need the baker to bake for them to profit.
