What a good simple real world test
22:35 It crossed a solid unbroken line to get out of the lane. That will need to be fixed
It's to be expected that it will make some poor decisions, as long as it doesn't make unsafe decisions
I think one of the places it turned into an alternative lane when the general move is to typically stay in your own lane but I didn't notice if it was a dotted lane, if it was, again it should have stuck to its lane but if it wasn't then technically you are allowed to move to a different lane on turning
23:20 It spends a lot of time in the right lane, transport NSW states you should stay in the left lane when possible. Maybe the programmer was Chinese (that's a joke btw)
26:00 The sunglasses issue will need to be solved. That's not workable for many, especially for migraine sufferers
36:15 That was an illegal move changing out of a turn left only lane and crossing a solid line. Something else to fix
40:50 Using its own programming to work out that lane in the contra flow area was impressive
43:25 The attention thing is going to annoy people. I guess after a few years if they get to the stage of allowing far less attention in supervised mode then it might be workable
45:45 Humans optimise everything, the car cannot at this stage, even if it took 10-12 hours to Melbourne, most people would find that unacceptable especially since you have to stay fully alert all that time.
Most people would take control and use navigation in the built up areas
46:50 This clearly has a preference for right hand side of the road driving. They will need to force it to preference Australian left hand side driving
49:00 It keeps a very big gap between the vehicle in front
51:50 That is disingenuous, the car has made a few illegal moves actually. There's certainly room for improvement, as expected. It would be interesting to see this test done again in say 2 years time
53:50 It would be interesting if they allowed information from Wayz to be added in, they do track pot holes and other road hazards
56:50 Another fix needed, that parking was not up to scratch
57:30 His frustration is starting to show, the mistakes and added journey time is wearing him down as it would anyone, I would have taken control and driven the rest myself, this is far too drawn out and painful, but I guess it's not the point of the test
1:03:00 Summary. A reasonable overview, dismissed the illegal moves it made, fair assessment of its safety and cautious preference. Clearly self driving on long distances is too much for one person, this needs to be highlighted, normally people would have swapped drivers not gone the full distance with one driver having to pay attention all that way, no wonder he is frustrated and fatigued
1:05:30 Use case assessment, very good, accurate and fair, this has limited usefulness. Self driving unsupervised taxis would be were I see this technology making huge impacts on society, giving the elderly and less mobile people their mobility back
Congratulations on a great driving test and remaining objective throughout
