I have a few things to say. To preface, I'm a computer scientist major, artist (for 16 years), and physically disabled. 1) AI filters do and will work. The long explanation is that AI scans a large pool of information. Each image contains colors composed of hex codes/RGB values. The AI is looking for groups of those values that are similar in color/hex and associates those groups with the tags the image may have been posted under or on user input (likely, in this case, the AI's creator). When an image puts a light layer of splotches of color, the viewer will still be able to recognize the image, but the AI now cannot identify a pattern of common values because they are overlapped with the filter. This may be confusing, I'm sorry about that, this would be easier explained visually. I do not know if AI will be able to surpass this some day, but I'm hoping it won't and I cannot think of a time and cost efficient way to stop these filters from working. 2) AI art SUCKS as reference. I used to use them as reference, but find the images to be: muddled, boring, consist of white skinny and attractive people ONLY unless otherwise specified, and almost always look boring and static. They have no movement because that's easier to generate looking good I suppose. AI art has no practical use and AI word generators like chatGPT can give faulty information, though they can help with providing quick and efficient information. But writing stories or essays with them will always sound static, boring, and unoriginal. There's no point in reading an AI book when you can just enjoy an original actual book that has a deeper meaning and a true story to theorize about. 3) I have ehlers danlos syndrome. I am not visually impared, paraplegic (much respect to those who are), or otherwise disabled like other artists, but I experience chronic joint pain in my wrists that can severely impact my ability to write, type, and draw. As I'm typing this, my wrist is burning but notice how I'm doing it anyway because I'm truly passionate about this subject? AI "artists" lack passion, not ability. I might not be disabled to the point I have to use my mouth to draw, but I still struggle with pain a lot. I never let that stop me, I learn to work around it. If I depended on AI, art wouldn't be satisfying or fun. I wouldn't feel as though there was any part of me in the artwork. Most "AI artists", as you said, aren't even disabled. I am, and I don't let it stop me. Frankly, I'd much rather someone spit in my face and call me a cripple then try and argue for me that AI art is actually helpful to me because I'm too pathetic to figure it out on my own. It's more offensive to assume disabled people can't make art to defend AI as a disability aid. This concludes my ted talk.
