As sons as this guy said he believes we are I a simulation he lost me, over the course of this interview his personal philosophy became clear and it is transhumanism which is incompatible which what it actually means to be human. I’m sorry but I cannot take him seriously.
I believe he is right about AI safety but to think AI could ever be smarter than the sum total of all human IQ is a fallacy. A silicone “brain” will never out perform a biological human brain ever. The A in AI means artificial ie not real intelligence .
There are things and powers at work in the world that are not comprehensible to think a machine will give us the answers to the universe is illogical using AI and LLM as a tool to aid in the grinding the right questions to ask is useful but his predictions sound like that of a paranoid man. I’m more. Concerned about the Humans behind the tech and how they influence it in order to produce an outcome that feeds their bottom line. Ie profits, shareholders and creating a techno prison for the rest of the plebs of the world.
