Humans see AI as a threat to their existence and they're only hoping to keep their species alive via their progeny. Maybe AI is the next evolutionary step, replication without all the messy emotional/biological/political mechanics. Yes, humans will be gone or subjugated but that happens in every evolutionary cycle. We haven't been doing such a good job keeping the planet from vaporizing so far.
