The patterns of neural activity that represent something in our brains are the same or similar patterns AI uses to function (as I understand); and in that matter, AI is billion times better than humans. Now, this is the processing of data with instructions. So there isn't a real understanding of a situation, it is just recognition based on the stored data, and then projecting actions, it's a mechanical process, very smart but is it intelligence? As our thought process, is it intelligence? Maybe intelligence doesn't arise from the processing of data. Intelligence may use it if needed. AI is surpassing how smart we are, but maybe neither our thought process nor AI touch intelligence, just see how deeply incoherent we are.
So, as I heard in a dialogue "Is there a function in the brain that doesn't depend on its content?" from which intelligence can arise. If so, AI could be just incredibly smart but never intelligent, therefore pretty dangerous. It could build, contribute, but also destroy, in the same as our thought process does, but in an incredibly much more efficient way.
