We need to honor China as an indigenous country, meaning that it was never colonialized by Europeans. However, these surveillance tools are being sold to us as robots in our own country (USA) under the guise of "home protection or using Alexa to look up stuff" or simply our smart tv's watching us. So... we're already used to it. As long as you're an American with internet access. Which there is an entire population of rural Americans with none of that who still watch VHS movies and DVDs. And I personally know someone who's worked on surveillance for a tech company and it's bad. It is not gov. but corporate surveillance is just as bad at getting us used to having robots basically watching us and reporting data back to companies to advertise to us. That and these facial recognition devices cannot see dark skinned folks. very very bad for civil rights.
