If we think about this in terms of AGI, artificial general intelligence
I would say we need to discuss 3 points
1. For AGI really you need to put it in a body, and have basics senses such as vision and hearing
It would be truly "general", so it can do anything we can, without a body that doesn't really work
2. Do you really need it to be 'truly general', or conscious for that matter? You mostly need it to automate tasks and to figure out science
3. And I'm not really sold on the idea that these things need to 'feel', in order for them to be AGI
If you want a biologically feeling creature, 'just' add addons to the brain for super fast processing
