These are some great arguments against AI that I wouldn't have thought of. The economic situations you (LavenderTowne) mentioned are particularly interesting because of the problems about job replacement. If AI is costing too much, I wonder if it is costing more than a traditional concept art team... (I admit this varies between companies and the type of art they are making, but from what I remember it's usually six people doing a lot of sketching.) I confess that this may sound extremely outfield, but I don't like the idea of AI art mostly because I see it as waste of computer programming, it doesn't seem to give a real solution to actual issues--big or small. The argument of "use AI so you could do something else with your time" that you fought against ought to be used regarding daily tasks that most people don't want to do in their personal life but have to, such as house cleaning and\or driving to work. If you are someone who does enjoy these, I apologies. I am mostly speaking as someone who would love to have a self driving car and a self cleaning home so I could focus on things like drawing or socializing with loved ones (as you mentioned in your video). I feel like such things like cleaning and travel are the projects that programmers should focus on with an engineering team. Efficiency and AI itself isn't bad, it just ought to be utilized in places where mundane can be too boring or tedious. And if someone sees drawing that way than why did they bother picking up the skill at all? If it's a need for a project (Such as making concept or for a robot or something) than wouldn't it be better to either draw it out personally or collaborate with an artist who specializes in the type of project you are working on (Like a technical or blueprint artist, for example)? Often the creative part is the most fun for project designers--whether their engineers, task mangers, or artists--and it usually is done best with research and drawing (like taking photos and making a research collage). I admit that the examples I mentioned there are some people who do love those tasks (Driving and cleaning) but since I am talking about projects that would need a physical body or form for the program these people can avoid the Ai by simply not buying the product. Meanwhile it is difficult to avoid AI generated art that just gets posted easily on the free and gated web.
