I think the hard thing is that a lot of young people aren't hirable. Working in small business for almost 20 years, I'd say recent grads are the least hirable. Not sure why, maybe the school system or entitlement. I'm sure there are amazing people looking for a job that can't find it, but there just are a lot of people that are not hirable. Basic work ethic or skills have dropped drastically. I know everyone wants to blame AI, but a decent part of the problem is recent grads aren't good hires. In the past, out of 100 applications, maybe 75 or 80 were really good, and you'd have to struggle over who to hire. Now, out of 100 applicants, maybe 12 to 15 are even worth giving a second look at. I'm sure AI has a thing to play in it but we are desperate to hire entry level people and it's almost to find some with a work ethic.
