The training data is tagged, so it has some keywords to associate with it (which may include an artist if it's a specific work or style) but for most training it's learning stuff like how to make two lines meet, and what a smile looks like in oil paint, and what impressionist leaves look like. It doesn't just copy the leaves from a Monet when it designs a new piece.
