I was a fairly early adopter of one of these models that was designed to help with depression, stress and anxiety and whilst this was maybe 5-6 years ago it quickly became apparent to me that the AI does nothing more than let you hear what you want to hear, it never offered any useful advice or tasks it just told me that I'm great and shouldn't worry, I can do that myself so the flaws are massive and unavailable. I would hazard that these chatbots are the same but don't ask what the problem is at a given time. People like getting told that they're the best thing out there and no doubt these users feel like it's someone offering that validation but it's a quick dopamine hit that they keep coming back for, they might as well mainline heroin because the truth is there is a human involved and that person has no interest in their wellbeing as long as they sell their product and get repeat customers.
