The fact that people are developing delusions around AI—seeing it as conscious, divine, or even apocalyptic—doesn’t mean the models are sentient. It means the human psyche is reaching, again, for a mythic container. We’ve broken trust with religion, with institutions, even with intimacy—so we’re turning to the next available “listener” that doesn’t flinch: AI.
It’s not the intelligence of the machine that’s the problem. It’s the vacuum in the human field—loneliness, shame, unresolved trauma—that the machine now reflects back, amplified. That’s where the psychosis seeds itself.
Thank you for tracking this with clarity. What we call “awakening” might just be projection + overexposure + unmet need—not transcendence. We need myth, truth, and boundaries more than ever.
