As a studying artist, watching AI grow and the threat of it being better than existing artists is just incredibly demotivating as someone who hopes to eventually break into an art position later in life. Theres a sense that now instead of competing with other amazing and talented people, youre competing against Jonathan who made a robot that does everything faster than you.
I remember seeing a take about AI art being boring in a short a while ago on top of how generally horrid the practice ends up being. To paraphrase "Instead of something made by a human, with intention and attention to detail in the work, you know that the robot is just generating what would just be statistically good enough represenation of a set of words." And seeing how you talk about it just adds to that sentiment, AI should be used gor chores no one wants to do, not things that bring colour and life into our being.
AI just pisses everyone off and i can only hope that for me and people coming after me studying this stuff have a chance to do any of this as a profession we can be happy with.
