my ai citizen kane (ie the only piece of ai art i've liked) was a long, disorienting series of images about a mcdonalds drive thru that sells simpsons p* rn, and in the last image the world ends. i think it worked because the piece actually fits ai as a medium. it uses ai's uncanny, regurgitated empty nature intentionally to make a piece about the slop culture currently being pushed by ai. this did make me begrudgingly admit that it is technically possible for ai to be used in making good art. but for me knowing a piece was made using ai is inherently alienating in a very specific way. im not sure how it can have much artistic value outside of being used to show its own unreality and emptiness.
