We got copilot at work like 6 months ago, it makes tons of mistakes and the issue is finding and fixing the bugs actually takes more time than just writing code yourself. The sales pitch vs the reality are far apart. I cannot get over how much code it produces which doesn't even compile! Ask it to do something obscure and the code produced is laughable.
Management always targets the wrong things, we could easily replace the "robots" in HR with chatGPT and a good portion of the executive committee but definitely not the engineers :-)
