These AI tech ceos think they are so forward-thinking yet are myopic in their actions, it's paradoxical. I am still hopeful, though not excited for, the AI industry being in a bubble and stagnating in some sense. Preaching safety and going against it is just a reflection of greed and a perverted deployment of capitalism. Elon's whole bit is ridiculous, i think he meant to say that he would rather be the one that owns the AI IP that ends up dominating, for better or for worse. The "i hope i live through it", is beyond detached from reality. So far, i dont think AI has proved to be a net positive. Insomuch as it has helped people in dire need of it, thats ok. But the rampant use of LLMs is abusive to the human condition. The fact that chatgpt cam tell you erroneous things while exuding confidence, then you correct it, and it acknowledges being incorrect, is beyond reckless for a variety of reasons. Apart from the blind visionaries, governments share the fault. Greed and promise to be the dominating force in AI at the international level has blinded them to safeguards, period. The fact that you can have CEOs of these companies say, multiple times in public, that the job sector will be hit very hard as AI is deployed (whoch is already seen in multiple sectors of the job market), and the governments have effectively done 0 to address safety and the potential impact in the job market is beyond insanity. How the fuck do companies expect to profit when people cannot make an income? Even their greed blinds them, all nonAI oligarchs should be in opposition, yet their short term gains blind them. They all have a myopin virw if the world and do not deserve to have the power they wield, plain and simple
