art and image aren’t the same. ai can only produce something that you see on a monitor where you are looking at tiny light bulbs that produce only three wavelengths of light. you can never see a layer or the effect the gesso has below semi-transparent paint as you change viewing angles, or how the tiny crystal of lapis lazuli reflect and refract light differently when ground smaller to produce a variant of ultramarine. with ai you are only ever looking at the art produced by lg or samsung or whoever made the monitor. so the pollock test would only make sense if you had the pollock in front of you next to a monitor showing the ai image.
