I heard a conspiracy theory once that contemporary art, or specifically, those videos of people making fun of contemporary/performative art, were created specifically to create a false narrative that different art has different value. The idea is, if people see different art as having different value, it dissolves the practice of creation into "making it look good" instead of expression of the soul. which, it makes the leap of art to ai art much smaller when the idea of art in the public eye is "pretty painting" and all an ai would need to do then is make the pretty painting. not to say that different art doesn't have different value, but rather that the value of it is less important than the overall ability to express an idea and soul that the artist has.
To put it simply, the videos are anti-intellectual propaganda and ai is anti-intellectual.
