An algorithm software and artificial intelligence are completely different. The consumer products you mentioned are all regulated technologies that have safety thresholds that cannot be exceeded as those effects would be readily noticed. Data centers of this degree are big business and have been navigated strategically to freeze out opposition to maximize profits. It's entirely illegal.
Data centers do in fact poison water, steal enormous amounts of electricity while you pay for it, and are the cause for extreme climate changes to the planet. Yes, people who use ai are contributing to the problem but only because information like this is purposely made unavailable.
