I don’t mean to sound uneducated but how is this a bad thing? Sitting in a truck for long periods of time straight has to be miserable, let alone the health problems you probably get from being so chronically inactive. Wouldn’t it be such a great quality of life improvement for everyone who is a long haul trucker to be able to work somewhere else where they didn’t need to sit for that long? Also it’s not like we are losing a trained skilled fleet/workforce since it has been shown (at least for smaller self drivers like the waymos) that they are leagues better at reacting and accident prevention then humans. Also it’s not like you need a masters degree to be a trucker, obviously you need experience and skill behind the wheel but other than making wide turns and blind spots and being much more cautious you are pretty much just driving
