With one exception, the judge got it exactly right. EVERYONE (not just a lawyer) is responsible for what (s)he signs. He should have asked ChatGPT for a link to the document(s) so he and his legal training could decide how the precedent(s) affected his case. This training and experience, after all, are what his client(s) contracted for him to supply.
