Companies WILL NOT pay AI artists to MAKE AI art, Shad. Read that part again. What they WILL do (and what they ARE doing) is UNDERPAY someone to EDIT AI art. This is why, as a graphic designer, generative AI is viewed by many in my profession as an existential threat to our industry. Because even if we were to collectively "embrace AI as a tool," no company that adopts generative AI is going to pay us what we're worth as designers when they can just get the machine to do it. And this argument AI apologists use that it's no different from when graphic artists had to put down their brushes and pick up a mouse is utter horseshit. Yes, we had to adapt or become unemployable dinosaurs, but those of us who DID adapt continued to flourish in the business, because our knowledge, our training, our skills, our expertise, and our experience were still MARKETABLE, and still commanded wages and salaries that were decent, if not very lucrative. I got my first break into this business at 26, making a modest $25K a year (this was in the mid 90s). Now I make nearly quadruple that much as a graphic designer, and I know folks who make double that in this industry. What we do is not important, as jobs go, so let's get that out of the way, but it IS important to the people who pay us for what we do. But anyone who thinks that any company, anywhere on Earth, is going to pay nearly six figures a year to an AI PROMPTER/EDITOR, like Shad apparently thinks, is HILARIOUSLY delusional.
