Caveat: I am very new to serious socialist thought, so this opinion is almost certainly uninformed. However, as a masc-presenting white person, I consider it my right to expound any uninformed opinion I may have (sarcasm). My basic thought would be: UBI seems like a good stepping stone. If we could get it implemented *before* widespread automation, this would hopefully reduce the need for people to work 2-3 jobs to get by (especially in countries like the US or my home country of the UK). This would give the workers more leisure time which *might*, at least for some, give them the opportunity to engage with leftist literature and organisations. So while I see the danger of workers becoming dependent on the bourgeois state, I am also hopefuly it could be a root to forment more leftist sentiments in those countries of the imperial core which have particularly suffered under liberal capitalist propaganda.
