There are a lot of comments that don’t seem to understand the problem with stopping or slowing down. Even though he clearly stated the problem. If AI can do all that everyone is afraid of, and I stop but you don’t, then I am at your mercy. If I stop because I’m moral and you continue because you are immoral then I am at the mercy of an immoral person. So the more worried an individual is about AI the more they will feel compelled to win at it. Within our current structure putting on the breaks is impossible.
