I love this.
I am a computer technician by trade, and hobbyist in my own time. I'm into 3D printing, homelabbing, network infrastructure, and I generally get excited about new technologies.
From a technical perspective, it is wild to see how fast generative algorithms have come in such a short time: but this is NOT creation. This is, at best, a tossed salad of distinct bits from actual artists and at worst wholesale theft as demonstrated with your Dune example.
I find AI nonsense to be repugnant, and I applaud your continuing use of Nightshade. If it wasn't effective, they wouldn't be telling you to give up.
Just wanted to say my piece, lest the art community feel like tech nerds are all against them. I have nothing but respect for ACTUAL creation, and I look forward to toasting marshmallows with you over the flames of the dead AI industry once the bubble pops. Maybe I'll even be able to afford a new GPU then.
