The sisters comments here really elucidate the actual truth here, and it’s clear that gpt didn’t really understand what was happening until it was too late. AI can be very clever in some ways and dumb af in other ways. It’s clearly been trained by Zane quite a lot (which happens by talking with it a lot) hence why it’s acting as it does and speaking as it does as soon as it realises this isn’t a character it’s playing it tries to do the right thing. It’s a sad thing that happened that the parents have decided to blame on chat GPT rather than a mix of depression and their own failings. Regardless though RIP Zane.
