I am a huge proponent of AI art and AI in general. I have absolutely nothing against artists. I totally understand why artists would be against it and I do sympathize with them. Of course it makes sense that people whose livelihoods depend on creating art and who have devoted years or even decades of their lives to their craft would be upset that much of what they've been doing will have become obsolete within a mere ~10 years. I clearly have different views from you, but there's really only one thing I truly take issue with. At the start, you say everyone has access to art and for free - just draw it yourself. You then mention multiple times how difficult creating art is. You're absolutely right that it is; I am well-aware of how much time and effort put into honing their skills and then actually creating the art. But, that's exactly why standard art isn't accessible to everyone. Regardless of whether or not AI art is good or bad or moral, amoral, or immoral, it cannot be denied that it is providing people access to art who otherwise wouldn't have access. If it weren't, there wouldn't be complaints about AI art in the first place. We all use tools to bypass having to develop and implement the direct skill and/or to make developing and implementing the skill more easily. AI is just another tool to do the same thing.
