I seriously don't get the 'AI art is theft' argument. To use a metaphor, when a learning human artist is browsing Pinterest for inspiration, then goes on to make something unique, is that still stealing? I don't think so. So why is it a problem when an AI is trained through the same methods? I seriously don't understand this argument. Someone, please enlighten me. Why are people so convinced that AI is theft?
Like, I'd call myself an artist - I make stuff mostly traditionally and on paper - and I've never felt like AI art was able to make anything better than what I can. So what's the big fuss? I seriously just want to be in the loop on why people think this is bad.
