It's hard to see balanced takes when people like this have their heads so far up their butts I will say, the reason why people are mad about AI isn't usually because it's trained on peoples art without their permission, it's because it doesn't credit the people it was trained on, and because AI art isn't properly marked to show that it's AI, and sometimes real artists get flamed for "copying an AI artstyle" when it is literally the other way around The fact is that having an option to pay less for a lower quality product is perfect for people who just want a quick OC, and don't want a high fidelity character with a full character sheet and colour palate and Vtuber model and full comic book series with consistent art style Today, AIs can do fairly simple dreams, sort of random, but fun to think about, and artists who use AI as an assistance tool, will maybe outcompete artists who remain purists and never do so The bottom line is AI assisted work will likely improve over time, and become more prevalent, even though I almost always filter it out when I'm looking for "real" art
