The whole idea of running enterprises is to make money, but the irony is that automation and robotics do not automatically guarantee higher efficiency and profit. I know this because I analyzed it in my Master’s thesis. AI can actually perform worse than manual processes if it is not implemented correctly.
The same applies to the manufacturing of electric vehicles: producing the batteries consumes a lot of energy, and the extraction of raw materials like lithium often causes significant environmental exploitation. Companies in the Western world need to be aware of the downsides of the latest technological trends. Otherwise, they may end up contributing little to sustainable development while putting more pressure on the working class.
