They are contributing enough to make billions for the corps. How terrible to say they don't contribute enough. Without these workers the billionaires couldn't make any money. Slave labor may be one thing AI eliminates. Actually, AI unemployment could be freeing. We have no idea how far we might go in developing new and untapped human potential when we are freed from slave labor.
