I believe AI is now shining a light on the issues we really did not want to talk about. I was still in college before AI came out, and I grew to hate college. It was a waste of time and money. My study was in computer science and I excepted them to teach to me how to code, to apply the math, and to overall gain knowledge in the field. The professors never did their jobs. No significant teaching occurred. The tests, homework, and projects did not relate to each other or the lectures. The lectures were either straight up 90min of a monotone voice reading word for word on a PowerPoint or just nothing related to help do the homework. I struggled so much with coding. Each subsequent class kept saying that "oh you should've learned this before" or "this isn't really important so we will skip it" when in fact, it was important. The professors don't care even when we went to them to voice our concerns, they brush it off and keep doing what they are doing. College became a self-learn discipline, and for me, that was the worse way to learn. I need people to tell me things, to understand and put the pieces together. As stated in the video, the institution's main goal is to make money. They do not care about education, it is a front. That is why so many professors do whatever they can, like falsifying data, to achieve results and get money. A professor can earn 500k from the school, pay some guy who wants to be a professor 100k to teach the class, spend maybe 300k on his research and assistants, and he gets to keep the rest. The school benefits when that professor finds something "revolutionary" and the cycle continues. Now that I have graduated, I can't find a job. I meet the qualifications and experience but they just don't want me, and I think that is another can of worms to discuss about for another time. AI showed that colleges are a fundamentally flawed system. It made it easier to get the funding, the degree, and to do the job. There is no meaning to writing your own work. AI can do it for you and better than you. So of course it is a no brainer that people abuse it to this extent. We only care about the results, not the process. I believe that college will be a thing of the past in a few years. AI can provide the education and skills that people need instead of this scummy system. Not that I support it but when people think, "Man what is the point of this?" colleges will lose money. Even I thought like that, my Bachelor's in Computer Science is useless because I cannot get a job and AI taught me more than I needed to know to pass those classes.
