For everybody defending this: there's a difference between CCTV surveillance cameras and cameras with facial recognition social credit score systems. The CCTV will just record video so that it could be looked at later if something happened but not constantly judge and monitor every single behavior and action, and linking it to everyone's identity and social credit score. The social credit score system is extremely invasive, especially knowing that there is somebody sitting in a chair watching your every single move and behavior. Yes, it's "safer" but at the cost of freedom and privacy. I'd rather face the risk of crime than having the government spy on me and judge my behavior. Also, many people defending it are probably not even living in China as YouTube is blocked in China, and using VPN is technically illegal for citizens.
