another note on the "cost" argument: the only reason generative AI is easy for the consumer is because the cost of the models is externalized. I have run nightshade on my computer and it took FOREVER to poison even one image. why? because it is in itself a kind of AI model, and my poor pc was barely strong enough to host a program that powerful. (hearing you built your own PC is making a lot of sense lmao. wish that were me)
anyway, LLMs (large language models) and image generation software are an environmental nightmare. the idiot investors and (MUCH more importantly) the planet are paying the price for this "accessible" software.
